“Witty and Delightful Characters”

“Memory Key picks up right at the end of book one and without any backstory, so the series is definitely meant to be read in order. Once again, the witty character of Lizzie Livingstone is a delight with a wonderful balance of turn-of-the-century propriety and recklessness.

As a magical time-travel story, this book includes not only the continued search for the mysterious stones that facilitate travel, but a magical Memory Key causes a different future to unfold. The book is the tale of that alternate future.

Though there are some action-filled encounters as Lizzie and Scott time travel, most of the story unfolds in discussions of the mysteries of the stones and the identity of a strange woman who continues to cross the pair’s paths. There is also the ongoing courtship of Lizzie and Scott, which ends with… (no spoilers here).

Readers who enjoyed the first book in the series will also find this one satisfying. Characterization is wonderful, and though this is not a fast-paced book, it had no trouble holding my attention. I look forward to the next in the series.”
