Liars and Thieves – Recommended Read – by D. Wallace Peach

Front cover Liars and Thieves online resolutionIt’s my  pleasure to present and recommend the New Release, Liars and Thieves by superb author, D. Wallace Peach. I came across her blog Myths of the Mirror a few years ago and was astounded by the depth and quality of her writing. I’ve since read four of her novels (I’ll read them all as soon as I can!) and I’ve become an avid fan. I don’t think she knows this, but her Rose Shield series is in my top five favorite series’ of all time – along with Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings and the Vorkosigan Saga by Lois McMaster Bujold. In addition, I’ve come to truly enjoy our blog-grown friendship and respect her as an amazing person behind her well-drawn, complex, enthralling fantasy worlds. I’ve agreed to be part of her Launch and an exclusive Q & A answer is below… I’m looking forward to reading the new Unraveling the Veil Trilogy

I hope you weren’t put off by that gushing intro. 🙂 Read on, and you’ll see it’s not exaggerated! I just got my copy of Liars and Thieves, and you can get yours HERE

What its all about:

Behind the Veil, the hordes gather, eager to savage the world. But Kalann il Drakk, First of Chaos, is untroubled by the shimmering wall that holds his beasts at bay. For if he cannot cleanse the land of life, the races will do it for him. All he needs is a spark to light the fire.

Three unlikely allies stand in his way.

A misfit elf plagued by failure—
When Elanalue Windthorn abandons her soldiers to hunt a goblin, she strays into forbidden territory.

A changeling who betrays his home—
Talin Raska is a talented liar, thief, and spy. He makes a fatal mistake—he falls for his mark.

A halfbreed goblin with deadly secrets—
Naj’ar is a loner with a talent he doesn’t understand and cannot control, one that threatens all he holds dear.

When the spark of Chaos ignites, miners go missing. But they won’t be the last to vanish. As the cycles of blame whirl through the Borderland, old animosities flare, accusations break bonds, and war looms.

Three outcasts, thrust into an alliance by fate, by oaths, and the churning gears of calamity, must learn the truth. For they hold the future of their world in their hands.

Q&A:

Does Liars and Thieves have a map? Why?

D. Wallace Peach: Maps are great thought starters. I always start with a hand-drawn map. In about ½ of my books, the map gets redrawn on the computer and added to a book. A map helps me orient the story, measure out distances, helps with descriptions of place, and defines how the people interact with the land. Maps shouldn’t really be necessary for an understanding of a story, but I like them. My maps are fairly functional, but some true artists make beautiful maps. Perhaps someday I’ll try to make a pretty one by hand. Here’s the map to Liars and Thieves:

Unraveling the Veil Map

Kennedy J. Quinn: Wow! This one looks plenty pretty to me. Very cool.

About the Author:

book photo low low resD. Wallace Peach started writing later in life after the kids were grown and a move left her with hours to fill. Years of working in business surrendered to a full-time indulgence in the imaginative world of books, and when she started writing, she was instantly hooked. Diana lives in a log cabin amongst the tall evergreens and emerald moss of Oregon’s rainforest with her husband, two dogs, bats, owls, and the occasional family of coyotes.

What a fantastic introduction, Sheri. She’s earned every bit of the accolades, but it’s still a lovely opening. Thanks for hosting.

And Diana, a map is a great addition. I know I could never hand-draw a map like that.

    1. Thanks, Staci. Sheri’s intro was so sweet. And her site is beautiful. I did that map on the computer. I have a cartography program that can do some pretty fancy work (if I ever read the instructions – lol). But even these simple ones are nice for the books and easy to read. Thanks so much for the visit and Happy Writing!

I’ve played with cartography programs (you know, in my free time lol) and I didn’t end up with anything remotely resembling a map. I’d be better of with paper and pencil. Software or not, I’m impressed.
