A Wee Bit of Fame

I don’t live near a bookstore, so I get to browse one much too seldom. To my delight, when I was in Issaquah (about 20 miles away) this weekend, I found Miss Livingstone, Book I at the ‘local’ Barnes & Noble! Besides the excitement of seeing my book on the shelf, I was thrilled they have a Local Authors section dedicated to Seattle and Eastside area authors. My author-friend Victoria Bastedo’s , sweet romance, Black Poodle Over Seven Hills was there too, along with some other authors I recognize and have read on the NY Times Best Seller’s list.

I thanked the manager for spotlighting local and indie authors, and she invited me to do a Book Signing event when Book II of Miss LiV Adventures is released this spring! She also wants to schedule a Meet the Authors panel event with my local author’s group FreeValley Publishing/FVP Books. I’m looking forward to these opportunities. It’s always fun to visit the bookstore, but this time I left with the feeling of a wee bit of fame.

    1. LOL, I did see a small surge in sales. Not sure if it’s related. It was a fun discovery. 🙂 Thanks for your encouragement!

I wonder if there are other, smaller bookstores that carry your book? If not, maybe you can reach out to them and do some book signings. This is so encouraging!!!

      2. Yes, I’ve done a couple in the last few years. Unfortunately the one in my hometown closed last year. And one of the other venues that used to do signings – a coffeeshop closed as well. I have an exciting opportunity with the library system that I’ll be posting about soon. I can feel a great momentum this year!

    1. Just a matter of time for you, I think. Have you tried taking them in to a local shop? Illustrated books will often grab a shop owner’s interest.
